In the world of piling, the IJB Group is a resounding name. For almost sixty years, the company has been a leader in this field. Last year, the IJB Group opened a new production location in Lelystad in addition to its existing plant in Lemmer. This is how the foundation specialist responds to the increasing demand for piles and just-in-time deliveries. Hendriks supplied an eight-fold mould for the production of the prestressed piles.
Designing and producing pre-stressed precast piles is one of the core activities of the IJB Group. From the new production location in Lelystad, customers in the Randstad area can be served faster and better. Working from two locations not only enables smarter and more efficient production, but also reduces the total number of transport movements. A nice step towards the IJB Group's sustainable ambitions. About the new location, Pierre Hoekstra of IJB Group says: "Lelystad is not only a production location but also a testing ground where the latest developments see the light. When it comes to new systems, we prefer to use a trusted and proven partner. Such a partner is Hendriks for us when it comes to mould building."
Ahead of the new building, the IJB Group approached Hendriks to ask what they could do for the production of pre-stressed 290 x 290 mm piles and a maximum length of 25 metres. "Hendriks proposed an eight-fold mould with a length of 75 metres. This length can be divided into sections of up to 25 metres using headers. Next to the mould, rails are provided over which all associated equipment can travel back and forth. The pouring itself is done from the top. Up to eight piles can thus be poured and taken up at once."
Fast and efficient production cannot be separated from final demoulding. Pierre Hoekstra says: "In cooperation with Hendriks, we have developed a new stripping system. Ingeniously, we let the steel pile mould bulge, pressing the steel mould with air from below. With the mould bulging, the piles can be easily unloaded. An equally smart and efficient solution."
For now, with the new mould, IJB Group has taken the first step towards further expansion. "The market is growing and housing production will continue unabated in the coming years," said Pierre Hoekstra. "I expect production to continue to grow steadily over the next two years."
